Steel Strapping

There are different sizes and categories of steel strapping to suit to different types of applications. Different types of tools are also available for tensioning, sealing and cutting steel straps of different grades and width. This includes hand tools, battery-powered, combination, and pneumatic tools.

Steel Strapping Grades

  • High Tensile Straps – High tensile steel strapping is made from special cold rolled steel that undergoes heat treatment for providing high tensile (HT) strength. HT strength provides shock resistance and additional protection. This type of strapping is available in different sizes including 1/2”, 5/8”, 3/4”, and 1-1/4” width.
  • Regular Duty Straps – Regular duty steel strapping is made from cold rolled steel under strict controls. This type of strap is manufactured for achieving precision uniformity in finish, gauge and width. This helps in ensuring easier strapping operation with all types of tools. Regular duty steel straps are available in all sizes including 1/2”, 5/8”, and 3/4”.

Battery Tools

Battery-powered steel strapping tools, can deliver optimal power and performance while eliminating costly airlines and the inconsistencies. Many battery tools provide one-button operation to speed up applications and boost productivity.

Combination Tools

Combination steel strapping tools complete tensioning, sealing and cutting tasks in a single operation. These tools are designed for saving time and money. They also help in reducing the storage space required for keeping different tools. A single combination tool also makes operations much more convenient compared to using multiple tools.

Pneumatic Tools

Pneumatic steel strapping tools are ideally suited for making it easier to strap large, compressible and packages involving heavy-duty applications. Many such tools allow precise adjustment of air pressure, also allowing uniform tensioning. Pneumatic tensioners and sealers use compressed air to do all the work. These tools allow you to increase productivity in applications involving heavy strapping.

Steel Strapping Seals

Different types of seals are used with steel strapping. The more commonly used seals are as following:

  • Snap-on or Open Seals – This type of seals go over the overlapping strap ends. They help eliminate the need for pre-threading and are perfect for faster operations. It is the most widely used type of seal in steel strapping.
  • Thread-on or Semi-open Seals – This type of steel strapping seals are threaded over the overlapping ends before tensioning. It is commonly used when larger sizes or bales are involved.
  • Push-on or Closed/overlap Seals – This type of seal is applied when the tensioner or the strapping tool’s nose is used to butt against the seal. Threading is required before tensioning and it involves overlapping flanges that can bear very high stress.
  • Magazine Seals – In this type of steel strapping seals, there is a stacked arrangement. This allows you to load partial stacks into magazines of seal feed tools. It is commonly used along with combination steel strapping tools.
